Tutorials

Frances Emery is a fibre artist. Some years ago she developed a quilting technique of creating pictures from scraps of fabric. The scraps are placed as if they were brush strokes in an oil painting. In this timelapse video, two weeks of work are compressed into a few seconds.

In this video, Frances illustrates the critically important skill of free-motion quilting in the final stages of creating a scrapture.

This is a movie about how to make a scrapture – a small art quilt made from scraps of fabric. The movie has some timelapse parts so they appear to move really fast, others are real time. But the movie is all about the art form that Frances is developing.
